Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NicePic (“NicePic”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you use getnicepic.com and our photo-editing services (the “Service”). NicePic is operated by Chengyao Duan. We've tried to keep it short and plain.

The short version

  • You don't need an account. We don't ask for your name or email to use the free Service.
  • Your photos are stored privately and only used to make your edits. Only the browser you uploaded from can see them.
  • We never sell your personal information, and we don't use your photos to train AI models or for advertising.
  • We use one essential cookie and no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

1. Information we collect

  • Photos you upload and the images we generate for you, together with the text you enter — instructions, titles, place names and the spots you mark on a photo.
  • An anonymous device ID stored in a cookie. It lets you see your own creations under “My creations” and counts your daily free edits. It isn't linked to your name or email.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address. We don't store the IP address itself; the hash only helps us stop abuse of the free tier.
  • Basic technical data that our hosting provider records automatically, such as request logs, browser type and error reports.
  • Your email address and message, if you contact us.
  • Purchase records, once paid credit packs are available — what you bought and when, from our payment provider. Your card details go directly to the payment provider and never reach us.

2. How we use information

  • To generate your edits and show you the results.
  • To keep your creations available in the browser you used.
  • To enforce free-tier limits and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To keep the Service secure, fix problems and improve reliability.
  • To answer your questions and handle refunds.
  • To comply with the law.

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (making your edits), our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, improving the Service), your consent where required, and legal obligations.

3. How your photos are processed

  • Uploaded photos and results are kept in private cloud storage and are never published.
  • Only the browser that uploaded a photo (recognized by the device cookie) can view it and its results through our app.
  • To create an edit, we send your photo and instructions to our AI image-generation providers. They receive the image itself or a private link to it that expires within one hour, process it to return the result to us, and may keep it for a limited time under their own data policies — for example for abuse monitoring.
  • Requests may be screened automatically for safety, and requests that break our Terms may be refused.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that:

  • cloud hosting and content delivery;
  • database and file storage;
  • AI image-generation providers;
  • payment processing, once paid plans are available;
  • email, if you write to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition — in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

5. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie that holds your anonymous device ID, so “My creations” and your daily free edits work. It lasts up to about 13 months. We don't use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or third-party trackers.

6. How long we keep information

  • Photos and generated images are kept so you can come back to them in “My creations”. You can ask us to delete them at any time. We may also delete older files to save space, so download anything you want to keep.
  • Edit records (the tool used, the options and text you entered, timestamps and the hashed IP) are kept for as long as we need them to run the Service, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
  • Server logs are kept for a limited time by our hosting provider.

7. Security

Everything is transferred over encrypted connections (HTTPS), stored privately, and accessible only through checks tied to your device. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example in the EU, the UK or California — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict some processing. To make a request, email support@getnicepic.com. Since there are no accounts, please include a link to one of your creations (the /j/… address of a result in “My creations”) so we can find your data. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights, and you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. International transfers

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Children

The Service isn't directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll post a notice on the site. See also our Terms of Service and Refund Policy.
